Student Summit

Hi, my name is Anna and my flattener was Connecting the World Online. During the project I collaborated with students from different schools and different countries. Together we were able to effectively communicate and share information through online tools such as Flatclassroom. From the flatclassroom project I learned how to communicate appropriately through creating online videos, presentations, blogs and attending online meetings.
In my research I discovered that today's society is collaborating more online than ever before. Web tools such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr make communicating easier and faster. They allow mass information to be seen by hundreds of people at once. They allow users to talk and share information across the globe, give immediate feedback and create something new.
I have learned that with all this access to information that I have to be extremely careful about what I say and do online. Once it's out there, I can't take it back. I have learned about new web tools like Prezi, Tagxedo, Faceyourmanga, Evernote and Blogger.
The aspect that I enjoyed the most from Flatclassroom was meeting and collaborating with new people. I enjoyed being able to bounce my ideas off others, hear a different side of the problem and work as a team to accomplish the assignment. There were some challenges though. Not every member was online at the same time so it made hard to communicate at first.
To make this project better I would suggest that everyone works hard to be on the same part of the project. What I mean is that some classrooms were behind while others were ahead, which made it difficult to communicate at times. To make the project more meaningful, I would have liked to make more of a connection with the other students. We only got a brief snippet of each others lives and it made it hard to let total strangers do some work that counts for my grade.

Flat Classroom Project Keynote Speaker

As a young adult growing up in a technologically advanced world, I have relied more on the new devices and tools for recreation. Some tools that I use for fun are i-Pads, e-mail, texting, Twitter and Facebook. I can use these tools to also communicate with others and send out masses of information to everyone at once. With these tools, others I share information to educate and notify groups of people all at once. In this Flat Classroom project, I have communicated with others on a global scale. I have used new resources like Taxedo, Prezi and Faceyourmanga to expand my knowledge of technology. With all these new resources I can further expand my work as a student and as a worker in the business world. This project has encouraged me to break from the norm and become a unique individual through the use of technology. By being a student leader for Flat Classroom, I have attended online meetings and collaborated with people I had never met before. We were able to effectively communicate and get all of our ideas across. This will help me in the future because I know that I will use these experience to help me successfully and respectfully communicate in the work place. To improve my participation in Flat Classroom, I can check up on my fellow classmates and make sure that they are on task and communicating effectively with each other. I can go out on my own and figure out how to navigate new online tools and use that knowledge to assist others.

Digital Citizenship Blog

Greetings! My name is Anna and I started this blog because I am taking a class called Digital Communication Tools. In this class, I will learn about the digital world and how to effectively communicated with others. My blogs will be about the units of study I learn in class and the topics my classmates and I discuss throughout the semester. The first unit that I learned about was Digital Citizenship. Digital Citizenship is how society acts and works with the digital world. In this unit, I learned what it means to behave ethically and morally online.
Since the beginning of this unit, my friends and I have become more cautious about what we say and do online. What we put online now could affect our job opportunities for the future. If I could rate my online profile, (1 being my profile will negativity affect my future and 10 being my profile will positively affect my future) I would give myself a 9/10 because I don't put posts or images online that would cause conflict for myself in the future.

I have created an infographic to better explain the role of Digital Citizenship and how it has influenced and changed society. Infographics use visual representation to present information.
